The new update is arriving simultaneously to both the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic—Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + LTE. As reported by SamMobile, it shares the build number R8x5USQU1IXK1 across all models. The update is around 1.8 GB in size, which is remarkable for a smartwatch update. However, given that this is the major annual update for Galaxy Watches, it comes as no surprise.
The update is still stuck on the October 2024 security patch, which might raise some eyebrows. Ideally, it should bring the December security patch with it, although this is not an uncommon situation. While several Galaxy smartphones receive monthly updates that bump up the security patch, other categories of devices get security patches less frequently. It also happens with other brands, including Google. For instance, Google TV with Chromecast dongles still has the September security patch.
