Gemini Live could soon allow viewers to ask follow-up questions after a YouTube video has ended. The feature would allow viewers to have conversations about videos instead of AI summaries or a summary.

“Ask about this video” feature to get more powerful with Gen AI

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) has come a long way in a very short amount of time. Google is actively infusing its Gemini AI into several products, services, and platforms.

YouTube has been steadily getting AI features. It appears Google could soon unlock the ability to have a conversation about a YouTube video with Gemini Live. Android Authority recently discovered that Google is working to improve Gemini’s ability of giving viewers contextual information about a YouTube video.

Previously, if a user opened a Gemini overlay while watching a YouTube video, it would give a contextual chip. Titled “Ask about this video,” the feature would offer a summary of the video.

Moving forward, Gemini Live could allow viewers to ask follow-up questions using the overlay feature. Hidden inside version 15.46.31.ve.ARM64 beta of the Google app, there are several revealing lines of code.

Before going Live, increase your device’s volume so you can hear Gemini

As the name of the feature suggests, it would reportedly allow viewers to have a conversation with Gemini Live about a YouTube video. Owing to the power of Gen AI, users could have a more natural and continuous conversation to get more information.

To access the feature, viewers have to open Gemini Live while playing a YouTube video. The Gemini overlay will then present two options: “Ask about this video” and “Talk Live about this”. The second option should summon Gemini Live, while the former should present the contextual chip which provides a previously generated answer.
