Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Design
As you can see, both devices have a centered display camera hole up top, though the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s sits a bit lower in comparison. Both smartphones also offer very thin bezels, which are also uniform, by the way. The ones on the Find X8 Pro are a bit thinner, but only slightly. You’ll notice that the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers more of a curvature in the corners, though the difference there is also not that big.
Both smartphones include power/lock and volume up/down buttons on the right side, but their positioning is not the same. The power/lock key sits above the volume rocker on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s the other way around on the Find X8 Pro. OPPO’s handset also has a camera button on the right side. There is also an IR blaster at the top of the phone, which is something the Pixel 9 Pro XL also doesn’t offer.
If we flip them around, you’ll notice completely different camera modules. The Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a pill-shaped one, which is horizontal. The Find X8 Pro has a circular camera module, which is centered in the upper portion of the phone’s back. Both camera modules do protrude on the back, the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s more than OPPO’s. Both smartphones have a flat frame all around, and both of them are made out of aluminum and glass.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro has a micro quad-curved display, which means that the glass on top of the display is slightly curved towards the sides, on all sides. The display itself is flat. The same goes for its backplate it’s proportionally curved. The Pixel 9 Pro XL’s front and back are flat. The two phones are almost completely identical in terms of height, width, and thickness. The OPPO Find X8 Pro is 6 grams lighter. Both devices offer IP68 certification, while OPPO’s also has an IP69 certification for water and dust resistance. Both of them are quite slippery, by the way.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Display
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 6.8-inch 2992 x 1344 LTPO OLED display. That panel is flat, and it offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). HDR10+ content is supported here, while the display’s peak brightness is 3,000 nits, in theory. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection from Corning sits on top of the display.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the flip side, has a 6.78-inch 2780 x 1264 LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is also flat, while it offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). Dolby Vision is supported here, as is HDR10+ content. The peak brightness is 4,500 nits, in theory. The screen-to-body ratio sits at around 90%. The Gorilla Glass 7i is included on the front of the phone, on top of the display.
Both of these displays are actually outstanding. You’ll be hard-pressed to find something to complain about. Well, the Find X8 Pro does offer high-frequency PWM dimming, so if you’re sensitive to that, you’ll definitely prefer OPPO’s panel. If not, both will be outstanding for you. They’re vivid, have great viewing angles, the resolution on both is very high, and the blacks are deep. Touch response is also very good, and both panels do get more than bright enough when you need them to.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Performance
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is fueled by the Google Tensor G4 processor. That is a 4nm processor, and it’s paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. The OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the other hand, is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, a 3nm chip. That chip is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage is also a part of the package. Storage expansion is not available on either device.
MediaTek’s processor is more powerful, there’s no doubt about it, but Google did a great job of optimizing the Tensor G4 for its latest Pixel smartphones. Both devices will serve you great in day-to-day use, as they’re very snappy in everything they do. The Find X8 Pro will do better in intense gaming scenarios, even though the Tensor G4 is very capable in that regard too, but it’s not the best chip for gaming, that’s for sure.
Neither phone got too hot while gaming, though they both do get quite warm during more intense sessions. The Find X8 Pro is the better option for gaming if that’s something you’re planning on doing. However, if you’re not, both will serve you just fine. The performance has been outstanding for us in basically every way.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Battery
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 5,060mAh battery on the inside. OPPO’s flagship comes with a 5,910mAh battery. The difference in battery capacity is quite jarring. OPPO used a silicon-carbon battery, which explains how it managed to stuff it inside the phone. OPPO’s handset does have a much bigger battery pack, does it offer better battery life, though? Well, yes, it does.
Just to be clear, the Pixel 9 Pro XL does offer great battery life, more than pretty much anyone will need on a daily basis. That only goes to show how outstanding the OPPO Find X8 Pro’s battery life is. Pretty much nobody will have to charge that phone during the day, as we were able to really go the distance with it. We were able to cross the 8-hour screen-on-time mark with ease, and had juice left over, even during the most intense testing days. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is also great, though its battery life is around 15-20% lower in our testing. As I said, that is not a bad thing, as it still offer great endurance.
In terms of charging, the OPPO Find X8 Pro trumps the Pixel 9 Pro XL, easily. The phone supports 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The Pixel 9 Pro XL supports 37W wired, 23W wireless (with Pixel Stand), 12W wireless (Qi), and 5W reverse wireless charging. OPPO’s handset will charge much faster in every way, despite the fact it has a bigger battery pack. OPPO’s handset also ships with a charger, unlike the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Cameras
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor), a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.55-inch sensor, 123-degree FoV), and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.55-inch sensor, 5x optical zoom). The OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the flip side, has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.4-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.75-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/1.95-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom), and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.51-inch sensor, 6x optical zoom).
Yes, OPPO does offer one extra camera, and two periscope telephoto cameras overall. That makes it more versatile in terms of zoom range. Both smartphones have very capable main camera and main camera sensors. The one on the Pixel 9 Pro XL is slightly larger, but the Find X8 Pro’s is more capable and newer. The image processing these two phones offer is much different, however.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL does prefer cooler tones and has that Pixel image processing that you either love or hate. The images from the OPPO Find X8 Pro do end up looking more realistic, with outstanding colors, thanks to Hasselblad. Both phones do a great job in HDR situations, and they also do great in low light. The Pixel 9 Pro XL does tend to brighten up low-light shots a bit too much most of the time, and you’ll either love or hate that. The balance on the Find X8 Pro is more our speed, as the images do look more realistic.
We did prefer using the Find X8 Pro’s telephoto cameras as they cover everything between 1 and 10x perfectly, and do great even beyond that, up to 30x. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is not bad in that regard, at all, but we do give the edge to OPPO on that one. Both ultrawide cameras do a great job, though not to the level of the main sensors. The color science is replicated well by them, though, they follow the main cameras rather well in that regard.
Audio
There is a set of stereo speakers included on both of these smartphones. Both sets are actually really good. They’re very similar in terms of general loudness, and the audio output quality is good on both.
There is no audio jack on either phone, but both of them support audio via the Type-C port, in case you want to use wired headphones. If you prefer wireless headphones, on the other hand, the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers Bluetooth 5.3, while the OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.4 support.
