Razer makes all kinds of accessories for gamers and its latest is the USB 4 Dock, which as the name suggests is a dock with a plethora of ports to accommodate just about any PC gaming station. Are you someone who has loads of different peripherals and other accessories to use but not enough ports to use them with? Then you probably need this dock. At least that’s what Razer would tell you.
That’s what we’re telling you as well. Because the alternative is getting rid of some of your accessories. And it’s a good bet that you would like to keep them and continue using them. The good news is Razer has you covered with the USB 4 Dock which has a whopping 14 ports.
With that many ports to plug devices into, you’ll find it hard to run out of ports for everything. Especially when you consider plugging this into your PC will only take up one port, then you’ll have the remaining ports on your PC in addition to everything this dock makes available. This also lets you set up a dual monitor configuration because it has one HDMI 2.1 port and one DisplayPort 1.4 connection. It is worth noting that only one port supports 4K at 120Hz, while the other supports 4K at 60Hz.
Nevertheless, that should be plenty because you probably don’t need the 120Hz on both monitors.
The Razer USB 4 Dock comes with a 180W adapter
Having a huge amount of ports is most certainly a big benefit. But having that many ports won’t do you any good if you can’t power them all. Luckily, the USB 4 Dock comes with a 180W adapter. This is powerful enough to provide 100W of power to your laptop, and then still have enough power to keep all of your plugged-in devices powered as well.
In terms of ports, you get HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, microSD and SD adapters, a microphone and headphone combo port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with battery charging 1.2 (20W) ports, one USB A 3.2 Gen 2 port, an upstream USB 4 Type-C port, a 1Gb ethernet port, two USB A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB A 2.0 port, and one dedicated USB port for 2.4GHz dongles. That’s a lot of ports!
The dock comes in two colors and retails for $230
When you compare this to Razer’s Thunderbolt 4 dock, this seems like the better value. You end up with 4 additional ports and it’s available for at least $60 less. The USB Dock has a retail price of $229.99, whereas the Thunderbolt 4 dock with 10 ports has a retail price of $300 or more. Plus, the USB 4 Dock comes in both Black and Mercury, which means you get the same color options as well. Granted, the Thunderbolt 4 dock does come with Chroma RGB and a few other features.
Razer is selling the new dock from November 14 and it will also be available at authorized resellers like Amazon and Best Buy. Having said that, Best Buy does not seem to have it listed yet. You can get it on Amazon though.
