The Huawei P50 Pocket became a global smartphone today. The device launched in Malaysia, its first country outside of China. That being said, we already talked about the device in our announcement post. Here, we’ll take a closer look at the Huawei P50 Pocket specifications.
Needless to say, the Huawei P50 Pocket is a very powerful smartphone. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Do note that it cannot utilize 5G connection, only 4G, though, due to the US ban.
The Huawei P50 Pocket includes powerful specifications, comes in 8GB & 12GB RAM models
Huawei paired that SoC with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on which variant you choose. The 8GB RAM model comes with 256GB of storage, while the 12GB RAM variant (Premium Edition) includes 512GB of storage. You cannot expand that storage, so keep that in mind.
The Huawei P50 Pocket has a 6.9-inch 2890 x 1188 main display (442 PPI). That is an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. Its secondary display measures 1.04 inches, and has a resolution of 340 x 340 pixels (328 PPI). That display offers a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 120Hz touch sampling rate.
The listing says that it comes with EMUI 12, but the device almost certainly includes Harmony OS. There are two SIM card slots included in this phone, while Bluetooth 5.2 is also supported, as is an NFC chip.
It has three cameras on the back, and one on the main display
There are three cameras on the back of the phone. A 40-megapixel main true-chroma camera (f/1.8 aperture). A 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 aperture) is also included, as is a 32-megapixel Ultra Spectrum camera (f/1.8 aperture). A single 10.7-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture, wide-angle) sits on the phone’s main display, this is the device’s only selfie camera.
The Huawei P50 Pocket also comes with a 4,000mAh battery. The device supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge fast wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported, and the same goes for reverse (wireless) charging.
The phone includes a fingerprint scanner on the right side, a capacitive one. A Type-C port is included at the bottom, while there is no 3.5mm headphone jack here.
Huawei’s first clamshell foldable measures 170 x 75.5 x 7.2mm when unfolded, and 87.3 x 75.5 x 15.2mm when folded. It weighs 190 grams, and it comes in white (8GB RAM) and gold-ish (12GB RAM) models.
