Huawei’s brand new Mate XT Ultimate Design smartphone, the world’s first tri-fold, will arrive to global markets in Q1 2025. This has not been confirmed by Huawei, but a trusted source tipped us off.
Huawei’s first tri-fold smartphone will go global in Q1 2025
That means that it will either launch at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, or Huawei plans to host a separate event. Either way, it’s coming within the first three months of next year.
Needless to say, that’s great to hear. At first, we were wondering if Huawei would push it out to more markets at all, but then the global teasers started. That kind of pointed in the right direction.
As a reminder, this smartphone launched earlier this month in China. It managed to attract a lot of attention as it’s the very first tri-fold smartphone on the globe.
We used the device quite recently
We had the chance to get some time with the device recently, in case you’d like to check that out. Needless to say, that was quite the experience, so it will be great to see the device in markets outside of Huawei’s homeland.
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, which is its full name in China, has a 10.2-inch 3K OLED display. That panel can fold down to a 7.9-inch panel, and a 6.4-inch display, depending on what you need.
Despite the fact it has two hinges, and three layers, it’s almost as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Many people see this phone as a marvel of engineering, and it’s hard to disagree at this point. Not only is Huawei the first to deliver such a device, but it’s also a lot thinner than was expected.
Despite the fact it’s so thin, Huawei managed to include flagship-level specs too, and a decent battery. It has a rather compelling camera setup too, led by a main camera that offers variable aperture.
