A well-known tipster has just shared the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera details. Unfortunately, only one change is coming to the device in that department. The information is coming from Ice Universe, by the way.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra camera details have just surfaced, and only one change is expected

The tipster went to X to confirm that only the ultrawide camera will see a change with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung will upgrade the existing one to a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN3 sensor with a 0.7um pixel size.

The main camera will remain the same, as will the telephoto and the periscope telephoto units. The main camera will still be a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 unit. Samsung will make a small process upgrade, but the model will remain unchanged.

A 10-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony’s IMX754 sensor) will also be included, and it will offer 3x optical zoom. The fourth camera on the back will be a 50-megapixel Sony IMX854 unit with a 0.7um pixel size and 5x optical zoom.

We’re not sure what’s happening with the front-facing camera

The tipster did not mention the front-facing camera, though. This setup may disappoint some people, mainly due to the fact the main camera remains the same, and the fact Samsung is not planning to upgrade the telephoto unit.

The main camera is good, but it’s still a 1/1.3-inch sensor when many competitors are using 1-inch sensors. That 10-megapixel camera uses a 1/3.52-inch sensor, which is quite dated at this point.

We don’t doubt that Samsung will try to improve things via software, but many people expected a hardware upgrade as well. Not that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is doing a bad job in terms of cameras, as it doesn’t, not at all. Still, more powerful hardware would allow Samsung to truly push the camera prowess of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to launch in the first quarter next year. It’s most probably coming in January 2025.
