Lenovo has somehow set a bar when it comes to displaying some cool technology at trade fairs. The company is back with something very unique at this year’s IFA too. Today, Lenovo showcased the ThinkBook Auto Twist AI concept laptop at the IFA 2024. The main highlight of this concept laptop is that it can twist itself by tracking your face and do things following your voice commands.
Lenovo’s Auto Twist AI concept laptop can track your face to follow you around
The 13.3-inch display of the ThinkBook Auto Twist AI concept laptop can automatically twist, rotate, and even dance. Lenovo says that the motorized hinge mechanism allows it to automatically align towards anyone who is looking at the laptop. You must wonder how all that is possible.
Well, it does all that by using AI and the laptop’s 5MP front-facing camera. So, if you are near the laptop in a room, its screen can follow you around which can be handy during video calls. It can move 180 degrees vertically and 270 degrees horizontally at 30 degrees and 20 degrees of movement per second, respectively.
The concept laptop also does certain things using voice commands
Lenovo has incorporated yet another cool trick into its Auto Twist AI concept laptop. You can also control the laptop’s screen hands-free using different voice commands. You can use commands like “Hi Twist, open laptop” and it will do as asked. Honestly, there are many things you can ask it to do like turn itself into tablet mode, or even close itself.
Besides, the Auto Twist concept laptop will turn itself off if you move away from it for a long time. As with every other device with motors and hinges, the lifespan remains questionable. Therefore, Lenovo estimates the life cycle of 20,000 times for the Auto Twist concept laptop. All that said, there’s no word about its specifications or the launch date of this unique piece of tech.
Moreover, the company says some elements of it may feature in future products down the line. In a statement given to The Verge, the communication director Jeff Witt said “We’re still experimenting with that. A lot of these concepts don’t come to market, but you may see elements of them down the line. It’s got face tracking; it’s basically a video conferencing system built into a laptop. There’s a lot of accessibility potential.”
