TECNO will bring its tri-fold smartphone to MWC 2025, it seems. As some of you probably recall, TECNO showed off its Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold concept smartphone quite recently.
TECNO’s tri-fold smartphone will be on display at MWC 2025
The company did so via a press release. Many people assumed that the device would be on display at IFA 2024, but that won’t be the case. Roland Quandt just confirmed that it’s coming to MWC 2025, though, after allegedly talking to PR people (we assume TECNO’s).
Even though this is just a concept smartphone, it’s possible TECNO has an actual working unit. That’s the phone that could pop up at MWC 2025. It won’t necessarily be the phone that TECNO showed off via a press release, but it’ll be some sort of a tri-fold concept.
Tri-fold smartphones are slowly, but surely, becoming a reality. Huawei is scheduled to reveal an actual tri-fold phone on September 10, a phone that will actually be available to purchase. It will likely be limited to China, but still… it’s coming.

All the other companies seem to be a bit behind, though. We’ve seen some concepts thus far, and that’s it. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is the phone in question, though it may be called the Huawei Mate XT, without the ‘Ultimate Design’ part, we’ll see.
TECNO’s concept does look quite interesting, but it is just a concept smartphone. If it were an actual device, the hype would be out of this world. TECNO actually claims this phone is only 10mm thick, which would be astonishing if it were an actual retail unit.
The company also talked about some software features for that tri-fold when it first showed it off. TECNO released both book-style and clamshell foldables thus far, and two new ones are coming soon.
The TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 and Phantom V Flip 2 have surfaced several times thus far. Both devices will likely be announced later this month.
