Dimensity 9400 SoC is officially confirmed to launch in October

MediaTek’s upcoming flagship mobile SoC, the Dimensity 9400, has been the subject of several headlines lately. The company’s new chipset will rival the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC in the flagship segment. While many details of the MediaTek SoC already leaked earlier, there was no confirmation regarding the launch, until now. According to user reports on X, MediaTek will launch the Dimensity 9400 SoC in October.

The Dimensity 9400 chipset is launching in October to rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC

According to various posts on X, MediaTek’s CEO Cai Lixing has confirmed that the Dimensity 9400 SoC will launch in October. The company’s new flagship SoC will compete with Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Qualcomm will introduce its new chip during the Snapdragon Summit 2024 event, which is taking place from October 24 to October 26.

However, MediaTek hasn’t yet revealed an exact launch date for the Dimensity 9400 SoC. But, thanks to the new media reports, we do know that it’s coming in October.

MediaTek’s upcoming SoC could offer notably improved CPU performance

As per earlier reports, MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400 SoC could flaunt notably improved CPU performance. To be specific, the new chip is said to offer a 30 percent single-core CPU performance boost than the Dimensity 9300 SoC. The new MediaTek chipset’s energy efficiency is also said to be greatly improved. It will reportedly be 35 percent more efficient than its predecessor.

Its new large core allegedly needs only 30 percent of the power consumption of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s CPU to complete the same tasks, suggest the reports. Furthermore, the reports indicate that the Dimensity 9400 SoC-powered phones will offer much better battery life than the predecessor. Moreover, the new MediaTek chip could offer a 40 percent boost in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) over last year’s SoC.

According to the reports, Vivo and OPPO will be the first smartphone makers to utilize the Dimensity 9400 SoC in their devices. Vivo will offer the new SoC on the upcoming Vivo X200 series flagships. OPPO is expected to offer the Dimensity 9400 processor with its upcoming Find X8 series phones.
