Google’s new Circle to Search functionality first debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices in January. Soon after, Google expanded the feature’s availability to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro handsets. Since its debut, the search titan has been improving Circle to Search by adding more functionalities over time. Now, Google has rolled out a new feature for Circle to Search, which lets you quickly crop and share an image.

Now you can quickly crop and share using Circle to Search

Google originally introduced the new small addition to Circle to Search at its latest Made by Google 2024 event. The new functionality for Circle to Search allows users to quickly crop something on their phone’s screen and share it with others. The latest addition to the feature is rolling out as a server-side update.

The new functionality to crop and share something using Circle to Search is available for compatible Samsung and Pixel phones. If the change isn’t available on your device yet, then make sure the latest version of the Google app is installed on it.

The new feature eliminates the need to take a screenshot and cropping it before sharing

Notably, Circle to Search’s new ability eliminates the need of taking a screenshot and cropping to photo share with others. Once you circle something on the screen, a new option will appear to share the circled part like a screenshot with other apps and contacts. If there’s text inside the selected area, then another “Select text” button will appear on the screen. Then you can either copy or translate the selected text.

After circling a part of your screen, you can also upload it to Google Photos or save it to Google Keep using the new feature. Notably, unlike screenshots, the circled part of an image you choose to share is not saved on your device. Besides, the resolution of the shared image will be relatively low.

In related news, Google recently added a new song search feature for select Galaxy devices. Users can long-press the navigation bar or home key to identify a song using Circle to Search. The latest functionality for Circle to Search eliminates the need for applications like Shazam or Soundhound.
