HMD teamed up with Mattel, the company behind Barbie, and teased a new Phone at MWC 2024. A couple of days ago, the company announced that the device is ready to roll out. HMD has launched two variants of the Barbie Phone, one for the global market and one for the audience in the US.

While both versions look similar design-wise, the HMD Barbie Phone’s US model packs much better specs than the global offering. Let’s find out how they differ from each other below, so read on.

The HMD Barbie Phone for the US is based on the Nokia 2780 Flip and has much better specs

The HMD Barbie Phone for international markets is a variant of the Nokia 2660 Flip dressed in the Barbie colors. However, the phone for the US audience comes with a handful of tweaks that set it apart from its international sibling. It is based on the better-specced Nokia 2780 Flip feature phone.

The global Barbie Phone has a 2.8-inch screen, a Unisoc T-107 processor, 64MB of RAM, and 128MB of storage. It sports a 0.3MP camera on the back, a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, and a 1,450mAh battery. The international model is based on the S30+ OS that HMD and Nokia have been using since 2013. Notably, it also packs a Barbie-inspired theme and icons.

The US model offers better SoC, camera, interface, and storage features

On the other hand, the HMD Barbie Phone’s US model is more advanced as it’s powered by the Qualcomm 215 processor. The device is based on a Barbie-themed KaiOS 3.1 interface and gets a practical hang holder on the flip bar. The phone also has a much higher 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the US Barbie Phone variant gets a better 5MP rear camera as compared to the VGA shooter on the global model. In addition, it has Wi-Fi and A-GPS connectivity options that are not available on its international sibling. Both models also flaunt a 1.7-inch QQVGA secondary cover display.

The HMD Barbie Phone went on sale in the US on August 28 from Vodafone and Argos for £99. In the US, interested buyers will be able to get it for $129 via HMD’s online store from October.
