Early Pixel 9 Pro XL users have flooded forums with tales of wireless charging issues

Some early Pixel 9 users, the Pixel 9 Pro XL in particular, have reported issues with the wireless charging. The users have posted on Google’s product forums and Reddit regarding running into issues while charging their devices wirelessly. Some have mentioned that the charging starts just fine, but fails after a few seconds or a few minutes. Notably, some of the Pixel 9 Pro XL users have reported very slow charging with wireless accessories.

According to the reports, the wireless charging is not consistent on several Pixel 9 Pro XL units. Some users have reported issues while charging their new Pixel with a case using MagSafe-style chargers. Furthermore, some have claimed that the phone isn’t charging using Google’s own Pixel Stand wireless charger, even without a case.

“My new Pixel 9 Pro XL is unable to charge on the second-generation Google wireless charging stand. The phone recognizes the charging stand but does not charge. The icon will change to charging on the phone but then switch back”, one user reported on Google’s support forums. So if your Pixel 9 is having issues while charging wirelessly, you are not alone.

Google is reportedly investigating the issue

Google hasn’t yet publicly addressed the Pixel 9’s wireless charging issue. However, one Reddit user claims a Google support representative informed them that it’s a known issue that’s under internal investigation. Besides, one of the Gold Product Experts on Google’s support forums said that the issue has been sent to the Google team “for further review and investigation”.

As more people get their hands on the new Pixels, we may get more reports regarding the wireless charging issue soon. Google is expected to fix the problem with a software update in the coming days.
