Xiaomi has seemingly joined the tri-fold smartphone race with its own plans. According to a report from China, by Smart Pikachu, a tipster, Xiaomi is developing its tri-fold smartphone.
Unfortunately, the tipster did not give us any more information about the device. We don’t know anything about its specifications, nor when it will arrive. GizmoChina takes a wild guess by saying it could launch in 2025.
Xiaomi is developing its own tri-fold smartphone, allegedly
That presumption is a wild guess rather than anything else. And yes, it could happen, but it all depends on how far is Xiaomi in the development process. It took the company a long time to launch its first foldable following the first news we heard about its development, so… who knows? It could just as easily arrive in 2026.
It seems like Huawei will be the first company to announce a tri-fold smartphone. It will trump Samsung, that much is certain. The company’s exec confirmed that the device will launch next month, in September.
Richard Yu was already spotted using the device, multiple times. That smartphone will be thinner than we expected, and it will have a display that will measure around 10 inches.
Huawei will be first to launch a tri-fold smartphone, it’s coming next month
It will be interesting to see how much will the device weigh. It’ll likely be quite a chunky product, but who knows, Huawei may be able to surprise us. It will also be a rather pricey device, even though Huawei has been working on bringing its price tag down.
Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone, and the world’s first tri-fold device, will likely remain exclusive to China. This is a first-gen product, and considering its high price (well, the expected high price), it’s unlikely it will become a global product.
We are only guessing, though, of course. Huawei could reveal the details once this device launches in China, as it will get questioned about global availability, that’s for sure.
