The demand for iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to be higher than the standard models, claims a new report. This is apparently because Apple smartphone users could upgrade to the ‘Pro’ models in large numbers.
iPhone 16 Pro Max demand to remain consistent with past ‘Pro’ variants
Typically, the demand for the iPhone Pro and the iPhone Pro Max has been significantly above the base or standard models. A new report suggests Apple expects the same sales trend for the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max could be the most popular device from the lineup this year. Moreover, it would command a slightly higher market share than the Pro and Pro Max variants from earlier generations.
According to the report, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would have a combined 67 percent production ratio against the entire lineup. It is interesting to note that Apple may have marginally enhanced the production ratio for the top-tier models. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had a 60 percent production ratio against the standard models last year.
Why do the Pro and Pro Max variants command more market and production share?
Apple is expected to produce a total of 90.1 million units of the iPhone 16 lineup. This year, Apple should launch the ‘Plus’ variant, the iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The top-end Apple iPhones usually have better hardware and bigger batteries. Simply put, they have considerably advanced components compared to the base variants. Additionally, the base models usually just get the same specifications and features as last year’s Pro models.
This year’s iPhone 16 lineup would be the first series to have “Apple Intelligence”, which is essentially the company’s in-house Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI). However, this feature might not have a significant impact on the sales. This is because Apple Intelligence will not be available at the launch of these iOS smartphones.
What’s even more concerning is that Apple appears to have taken a very cautious and conservative approach with the upcoming iPhone 16 models. In other words, there are reportedly no radical design changes in the iPhone 16 and the ‘Pro’ lineup. It would be interesting to see the impact of such design choices on the sales of the devices.
