The global HONOR Magic V3 variant will launch early next month in Berlin, and HONOR just launched some new promo videos for the device. The HONOR Magic V3 goes against a hydraulic press and washing machine in these videos.
The HONOR Magic V3 stars in hydraulic press & washing machine tests
HONOR subjected this device to some extreme tests to ensure that it’s durable and resilient. To give you some context before we jump to the hydraulic press test. The HONOR Magic V3 utilizes the company’s second-gen Super Steel material.
This material has been developed by HONOR and is used as the hinge material in this phone. It was pitted against a granite rock and managed to crush it into pieces. On top of that, it can withstand a force of 1150 kg under a hydraulic press test, as you can see below.
The second video includes a washing machine. HONOR claims that the Magic V3 is the first foldable smartphone in the industry that passed a 2.5m IPX8 water resistance test. The device was placed in a washing machine and emerged intact after a rather rigorous test. That video is embedded below.
HONOR also shared more information about the phone’s durability
With that being said, the company did share some more info about the durability and materials of this smartphone. The second-gen Super Steel hinge is “built with the industry’s strongest hinge material with a tensile strength of 2100MPa”.
This hinge actually adds an extra set of swing arms, compared to the competition. HONOR claims that this design “significantly enhances the hinge’s resilience by an impressive 1,250% compared to the HONOR Magic V2”.
The HONOR Magic V3 can withstand up to 500,000 folding cycles. The special fiber HONOR is using offers a strength of up to 5800MPa. It’s referred to as ‘super fiber’, and it’s stronger than Kevlar and carbon fiber.
The HONOR Super Armored Inner Screen features impact-resistant silicone gel. When it’s dropped, this liquid material solidifies within milliseconds, says HONOR.
The HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield offers up to 10 times enhanced shock absorption capabilities compared to regular glass. It ensures durability against accidental drops and has a 50% higher crystal density.
The global HONOR Magic V3 smartphone will become official on September 5.
