Another smartphone maker will introduce its 300W charging solution very soon. We’re talking about Realme here, and it won’t be the first to show off 300W charging, actually.

Realme will rival Redmi with new 300W charging solution

Some of you will recall that Xiaomi’s Redmi showed us its 300W charging system back in February last year. 300W charging still didn’t make it into a single phone from Redmi, but it’s allegedly coming.

It remains to be seen how long will it take Realme to offer 300W charging in a phone. It could even be able to trump Redmi. Why? Well, Realme has the fastest charging phone on the market at the moment, the Realme GT Neo5 Pro. That phone supports 240W wired charging.

Redmi’s 300W charging can replenish a 4,100mAh battery in under 5 minutes

As a reminder, Redmi’s 300W charging solution was able to fully charge a 4,100mAh battery in less than 5 minutes. Realme’s charging will likely be able to do something similar to that.

Realme’s GT Neo5 Pro handset can be fully charged in less than 10 minutes thanks to 240W charging. That battery is larger than the one Redmi showcased, however, it’s a 4,600mAh unit. It is worth saying that the Realme GT5 also supports 240W charging.

Many people would say that this is overkill. Even 60-80W charging solutions are plenty fast, and many smartphones have them these days. Many of them go up to 100-120W even, which is extremely fast as it is.

Samsung & Apple are far behind in terms of charging speed

What’s ironic is that the world’s best-known devices, those from Samsung and Apple, still charge rather slowly. Chinese OEMs are leading the charging speed race, that’s for sure. Devices from Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo, and others support truly fast charging, well… at least their mid-range and high-end offerings.

It will be interesting to see what will Realme have to say. We are, however, guessing that the charging speed will be comparable to Redmi’s 300W charging. Let’s wait and see.
