Multiple leaks have revealed that Apple is working on foldable display-based products. The company is reportedly developing a foldable iPad and even a foldable Mac. However, a new report suggests that Apple may have delayed production of the first foldable iPad.

Rumors about Apple’s first foldable devices suggested an iPhone would not be among them. Before a foldable iPhone, the company would launch a product in its successful iPad line. The Cupertino giant was expected to start mass production of its first foldable devices in late 2025. However, it seems that the initially suggested time frame will not be met. Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone production could start in 2026.

Apple’s first foldable iPad production was expected to start in late 2025; not anymore

Jeff Pu, a Haitong analyst, sent a note to Apple investors and MacRumors had access to it. According to the report, Pu claims that he has seen some “pushouts” in the development of the first foldable iPad. The source says that “pushout” is a term used by investors to indicate that an initial release date will no longer be met, for one reason or another. So, it seems that Apple is postponing the release of the device, although the potential reasons behind it are not explained.

Pu is the same analyst who had given the start date of mass production of the company’s first foldable products. However, despite the delay, he still expects “enhanced Apple product power” by 2025. The analyst believes that the iPhone 17 series and the rollout of the best Apple Intelligence features will help.

Previously, Pu had revealed that Apple’s first foldable device would have a huge 20.3-inch display. This would be the product whose mass production would begin in late 2025. However, the analyst was not sure if it would be a foldable iPad or a foldable Mac device. Lastly, there is still no new possible date to start production of the product. It is also unknown whether the potential foldable iPad delay will also affect the foldable iPhone calendar.
