The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 has arrived on the Google Play Console, which suggests it could launch soon. The foldable smartphone has also appeared on TUV Rheinland certification, revealing some key specifications and features.

Tecno isn’t a big brand like Samsung or Xiaomi, but it’s pretty popular in some regions like Africa. However, the company has been launching devices that compete with several smartphones that are way above their price range.
Tecno launched the Phantom V Fold back in February of 2023. It was one of the most aggressively priced foldable Android smartphones. It had appealing features and capable hardware.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 first surfaced on Geekbench way back in January, and now it has reportedly appeared on the Google Play Console.

The listing confirms Tecno has embedded a MediaTek chipset inside the foldable smartphone with the model number MediaTek MT6983Z/TCZA. The octa-core chipset has a single Prime Performance core clocked at 3.2GHz, three cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four Efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
The SoC is packing a Mali G710 GPU clocked at 955MHz, which suggests Tecno may have opted for a Dimensity 9000+ SoC. Some reports suggest Tecno may have used a slightly tweaked version of the same SoC that powered its predecessor.
Previous reports have suggested the foldable Tecno smartphone is packing 12GB of RAM. The outer display could have a 1.5k resolution, while the inner display could have a 2000 x 2296 pixels resolution with a 480 PPI screen density.
The TUV certification for the device reveals Tecno has opted for a dual battery setup comprising 2973mAh and 2637mAh. This means the Tecno Phantom V Fold2 should have a combined battery capacity of 5610mAh.
Tecno might be offering two foldable smartphones
It is interesting to note that Tecno is readying the Tecno Phantom V Fold2. The device isn’t named Phantom V2 Fold. Moreover, the Google Play Console listing mentions the model number AE10, which is also present in the TUV and the EEC certification.
Back when the device surfaced on Geekbench, it had the model name Phantom V2 Fold. It is possible that the company could be readying two foldable smartphones.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 should be a foldable smartphone with a regular screen on the front, and a large screen when unfolded. This is because Tecno already offers a clamshell-style foldable smartphone called the Tecno Phantom V Flip. Hence, it is more likely that Tecno might launch two identical smartphones with different names for different regions.
