After publishing renders of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 yesterday, we do not see a leak in the pricing for the new buds that Google will announce on August 13. The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 is set to get a price increase this year, at $229 in the US, €249 in Europe, and £219 in the United Kingdom.
That’s a $30 increase over the original Pixel Buds Pro. And honestly, that’s probably fine. It’s still cheaper than the AirPods Pro and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which both cost $249. And the Pixel Buds Pro was released in 2022, so I’d expect the price to increase after two and a half years.
So far, we don’t know about any upgrades to these earbuds, though we do expect quite a few since it has been so long since Google upgraded them. We do know from the regulatory listings that the charging case battery capacity is 650mAh, 30mAh higher than the original Pixel Buds Pro’s case. That could also be why the case looks thicker. We also know that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are adding the wing tip back to the buds, which is something that customers have been complaining about for two years.
However, the color names are still up in the air. Today’s leak from Dealabs indicates that the names will be Hazel, Porcelain, Wintergreen, and Peony. It seems kind of odd to have both Hazel and Wintergreen as options, especially since one pair definitely looks black, like the Obsidian color Google always uses.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be released on August 22
The report also notes that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be released on August 22 in France. That’s a little over a week after the announcement, so we expect that will be the worldwide launch date. And will likely come to the US and most of Europe on August 22 as well.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 is shaping up to be a pretty nice pair of earbuds, especially after Samsung had to halt shipments of their Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
