Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass has been one of the bigger announcements regarding the service of late, with confirmations from Microsoft that the upcoming Black Ops 6 will be available to subscribers, and now it looks like Modern Warfare III will be landing very soon.
How soon, you may ask? According to recent reports, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will coming to Xbox Game Pass subscribers this week. Specifically on July 24. Microsoft itself has not confirmed this specific date. However, rumors have been circulating since earlier this month that July 24 was the proposed date for the game’s arrival.
And now it looks like Insider Gaming is able to corroborate those rumors, noting that the game will indeed be arriving for Xbox Game Pass subscribers in just a couple more days.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will arrive on Xbox Game Pass with Season 5
Assuming the timing is correct, then Microsoft and Activision seem to be timing the release of Modern Warfare III on Game Pass with the launch of Season 5. The fifth season of Modern Warfare III’s multiplayer will arrive on July 24. Activision always launches the new multiplayer seasons on Wednesdays. So it shouldn’t come as a shock that if the game is going to Game Pass, it’ll be arriving on the first day of the new season.
It would be the most likely time to draw in subscribers as new seasons typically have an influx of players who are trying to unlock and experience all the new content. Which in this case will be new multiplayer maps, new weapons, and a brand-new battle pass to work through.
It’s not immediately clear, however, what Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to with regard to the battle pass. Presumably, they may not have to buy the regular pass. But they may still need to fork over the $30 that it costs to buy the Blackcell pass. The Blackcell pass includes not only the regular pass but a large sum of CoD points. As well as some battle pass tokens to immediately unlock some of the new sectors. This is in addition to a Blackcell-exclusive sector that gets immediately unlocked and resides in the middle of the pass, providing more alternative routes for players when it comes to choosing a progression path.
It seems unlikely that Microsoft would include this with a Game Pass subscription. But the immediate unlock of the regular pass without having to spend the CoD points for it seems like a reasonable offer.
The announcement could be made on July 23
Microsoft hasn’t made the announcement yet. As Insider Gaming points out, the Xbox team does its big announcements on Tuesdays. That also puts players one day ahead of when the game is supposed to be available. And that would be ample time to know what a Game Pass subscription would include for this game. With that being said, those interested in Game Pass as well as existing subscriber who play Call of Duty might figure out what their subscription will get them sometime tomorrow morning or afternoon.
