After a slow start, Samsung is now rapidly clearing the July update backlog. It ended last week by releasing the latest security patch for around a dozen Galaxy devices. The new week has begun in the same tone. The July security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S21 series, and Galaxy A24 5G in various parts of the world. More devices should join the party soon.

Samsung has released its July update for the Galaxy S23 series

The July SMR (Security Maintenance Release) is available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Europe and Asia. The updated firmware build number for the European units is S91*BXXS6CXFE, while that for the Asian versions is S91*BXXS6CXFC. Well, the build number may vary in some Asian markets like China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The changelog should stay the same, though.

Speaking of the changelog, the update is all about security fixes. Samsung is pushing the 60+ vulnerabilities patches as part of its latest monthly SMR. These releases include fixes from Google as well. This month, the two companies patched at least six critical vulnerabilities. This update should soon reach other markets, including the US. Watch out for a notification about the July update on your Galaxy S23.

The same security patches are also rolling out to the Galaxy S21 series in Europe and Asia. The build numbers in the two regions are G99*BXXSCGXF5 and G99*BXXSCGXF4, respectively. Once again, it’s the same changelog. Samsung should be preparing to expand the rollout to more markets. You can check for updates from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap Download and install.

The Galaxy A24 is also picking up Samsung’s July update. As of this writing, Samsung is updating this mid-range phone to its latest security patch in Latin America. The update bumps the device’s firmware version to A245MUBU5CXEC. While the handset didn’t arrive in the US, the Korean firm sold it in Africa, Asia, and some other regions. It shouldn’t be long before the July update reaches those markets.

High-end Galaxy devices will soon get a major feature update

The August update for Samsung’s high-end phones, tablets, and foldables, including the Galaxy S23 series, is expected to be a big one. The company will push the new AI features and camera enhancements it introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 last week. The Galaxy S24 series may also get additional camera fixes. The rollout may begin in late July or early August. Stay tuned for more.
