Motorola is looking to add to its stylus-equipped smartphone lineup with a new model early next year. Dubbed Moto G Stylus 2022, the phone appeared in a blurry leaked render last month. Now, we have a much clearer look at it thanks to a bunch of high-res renders and a 360-degree video from OnLeaks aka Steve H. McFly in collaboration with Prepp.in. The latest leak also reveals some of the key specifications of the upcoming Motorola phone.
Moto G Stylus 2022 design and specifications
The Moto G Stylus 2022 sports a big, 6.81-inch flat display, which is likely an LCD panel of 1080p resolution. The new device features a centered punch hole for a change. Motorola launched two stylus-equipped phones this year — Moto G Stylus 2021 and Moto G Stylus 5G — both with left-aligned punch holes. Motorola also seems to have trimmed the bezels a bit. But the chin is still quite big, enough for anyone to tell that it’s a budget phone.
According to the report, the Moto G Stylus 2022 will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 Plus SoC, which is a 5G-enabled processor for budget devices. Motorola will reportedly offer the phone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, though we cannot rule out the possibility of it coming in other memory configurations as well.
On the back, we have a triple camera setup with a dual-LED flash on the top-left. The new report mentions a 48-megapixel primary camera but details about the other two sensors are not known. We also don’t have any information about the front-facing camera. The iconic Moto batwing logo sits towards the center, but it will not incorporate a fingerprint scanner. Motorola has expectedly embedded the fingerprint scanner into the power button on the right.
The Moto G Stylus 2022 also has its volume controls on the right edge. The bottom edge features a speaker grille, a USB Type-C port, a microphone hole, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the stylus slot. A second microphone hole can be seen on the top edge, while the SIM tray resides on the left.
The upcoming Motorola smartphone will reportedly have a dimension of 170.3 x 75.9 x 9.4mm (10.7mm including rear camera bump). That’s quite a thick profile and should mean a big battery. We are expecting no less than a 5,000mAh unit. The Moto G Stylus 5G also had an identical footprint and packed a 5,000mAh battery. The new report mentions a 4,500mAh unit for the Moto G Stylus 2022 though, so we will need to wait for confirmation.
From what it appears, the Moto G Stylus 2022 is likely in the early stages of development. We don’t expect the phone to go official at least for a few months. More details about its specifications, pricing, and availability should surface in the coming weeks.
