We’re getting more salivating barbecue action on Netflix with the reality competition series, as we learned back in August 2023 when a casting call was issued for a third season of Barbecue Showdown. Nearly a year later, Netflix has lined up the new season for July 2024.

Originally titled The American Barbecue Showdown, Netflix released the first season in September 2020, with a subsequent second season released on Netflix globally earlier this year in May 2023. Each season consists of 8 episodes.

Season 2 saw actor Michelle Buteau (star of Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest) replace Rutledge Wood as host, and BBQ experts Melissa Cookston and Kevin Bludso returned to judge. Buteau, Cookston, and Bludso will return for the third season.

Thyron Mathews (also known as Big T) won the second season after a close battle with Logan Sandoval in the finale.

Season 3 will see another nine barbecuers from across the country will have to master the flame in an open-fire playground and create mouth-watering, boundary-pushing barbecue for a $50,000 prize.

The entire third season of Barbecue Showdown will debut on Netflix globally on Thursday, July 4th, 2024.

Following the release of season 2, the show was in the global top 10s for a single week, picking up 13.63 million hours watched. According to FlixPatrol, the show was in various countries’ top 10s for 12 days before dropping out.

The news of a third season came in August 2023 (as we first reported) after All3 Media American and Cast It Reach issued a casting call for “potential future season contestants.”
