All eight seasons of Dexter, which consists of 96 episodes, will be available again on Netflix US on June 19th, 2024.
Michael C. Hall plays Dexter Morgan in this Showtime series, which is among the greatest the network has ever aired. Dexter Morgan is a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Metro PD, but he has a secret life. He’s a serial killer who has a code of killing people who deserve it.
Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, James Remar, C.S. Lee and Julie Benz also star throughout.
The show holds up to this day, which I can personally attest to, given that I’ve just binged through four seasons in a matter of a couple of weeks. Season 4, in particular, is absolutely sublime television.
The news that the show will come to Netflix in the US comes after Netflix secured the rights for the show to return in select regions in March 2024. According to Unogs, nearly all countries globally got the rights again, including all Latin American regions, India, the United Kingdom and Canada. Notably excluded, however, were the US and Australia.
We’ve learned that the Showtime series that aired between 2006 and 2013 is set to return to Netflix in mid-June 2024, four years after it was removed from the service in December 2020 after a long stint on the service.
The addition to Netflix is not expected to impact the show’s availability on Paramount+.
While Netflix is getting the original series, the rebooted 2021 series Dexter: New Blood will remain exclusive to Paramount+, and the licensing of the original series will no doubt boost interest in the series, given the news that new spin-offs are in the works with one of the projects in development being around the ongoing emergence of Dexter’s son Harrison.
This is just the latest Showtime series Netflix has licensed in the US. Just recently, we covered the fact that Patrick Melrose, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, would be coming to Netflix in May 2024, and Your Honor, we’ve learned, is bound for the service at some point in the near future.
