Spam files are a problem in Google Drive, but Google has been working on restricting them. However, sometimes, innocent files can get restricted. Well, according to a Google Workspace update, we know that the company is going to tell you if your Drive files are suspicious.

Google will inform you if your Drive files are suspicious

If you have files on Google Drive, and Google thinks that they’re suspicious, those files will automatically be restricted. This means that you’ll see a flag next to them, you won’t be able to share them, and no one can publicly access them. This is an automatic process, and it’s helped save a lot of people from spam.

However, sometimes, files can be erroneously flagged and restricted. People can have files that are perfectly fine, but Google can still mark them as spam. In that case, Google has decided to inform people if their files violate the guidelines.

If Google thinks that your Drive files are suspicious, you will receive an email telling you that the files have been restricted. If that happens, don’t fret. You will have the ability to send them for review. From that point, you can expect the files to be personally reviewed.

If the files are reviewed and found to be clean, they will be unrestricted and ready to share. In the case of shared Drive files, the owner of that drive will be the only one getting the notification.

This is a gradual rollout

Google is pushing to roll this feature out rapidly. It started rolling out the feature on December 14th, and it’s anticipating a full rollout within the next 15 days. This means that if you have a lot of files on Google Drive, then you may want to check your emails over the next two weeks. You don’t want to have any files accidentally restricted.

In Other Google News: Google is asking Pixel users for feedback on Android 12L

The Android 12L beta is now out, and people are starting to see the differences. While minor, these differences do bring some conveniences to the platform. There are some small UI additions and extra animations.

Now, Google is calling on all the beta testers to fill out a survey about their experiences. Anyone using the Pixel 3 to the Pixel 5a can take a short survey to rate their experience. It’ll ask you how satisfied you are with certain aspects of the software and what you would like changed.

This isn’t available for Pixel 6 users for some reason, but hopefully, one will come for them soon. We can expect Android 12L to launch sometime in March 2022.
