MediaTek has announced the launch date for its new flagship processor, the Dimensity 9300+ is coming on May 7. The chip will be announced in China, but it will be used around the world, of course.

You can check out the image MediaTek shared below. In it, the company highlights AI, as expected. MediaTek is using the ‘AI for Everything’ tagline here, which will be the tagline for the press event too.

This chip did pop up online several times, so we do know what to expect from it. The Dimensity 9300+ is expected to utilize a prime Cortex-X4 core which will run at 3.4Hz. It will also use three Cortex-X4 cores that will run at 2.85GHz. The last four cores will be teh Cortex-A720 cores and they will run at 2.0GHz.

As you can see, there are no efficiency cores to speak of here. That’s something MediaTek did with the Dimensity 9300 too, and that chip handled demanding tasks just fine. It did get quite warm, but it did the job without a problem.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 & Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are coming in Q4 2024

Even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, which is scheduled to arrive later this year, will allegedly arrive without efficiency cores. That seems to be the way to go these days, so… this is not surprising at all.

We’re expecting the APU (AI Processing Unit) inside the Dimensity 9300+ to be better than the one in the Dimensity 9300. That’s just an evolution sort of thing, and it’s realistic to expect something like that considering how much MediaTek is hyping up AI.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be the next step for Huawei. That chip is likely coming in the fourth quarter of the year, and it will utilize TSMC’s 3nm node (N3E). It will make a switch to the Cortex-X5 as its prime core.
