Huawei launched four new high-end smartphones quite recently. The most powerful of them is the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, and it’s the only one that has a retractable camera. Well, now we get to take a closer look at it.
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has a very interesting retractable camera
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra was disassembled by WekiHome, and the whole process was filmed. The video got uploaded to YouTube, and even though it’s in Chinese, you do get to see the phone up-close-and-personal, and its internals too. The video is embedded below the article.
A portion of the video is focused on that retractable camera. Huawei managed to surprise quite a few people with that move. The retraction mechanism uses stepper motors, and that does not affect the phone’s IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
This move allowed Huawei to pack a larger sensor in a smaller footprint. That camera bump on the back of the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is nowhere near as bad as on some other smartphones. That camera also pulls itself back in if it senses that you’ve dropped the phone or something. It pops out the moment you launch the camera app.
The phone is not light, but it packs a punch
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is not light, though, not at all. It weighs 232 grams. This teardown also gave us a closer look at the phone’s eco-leather back, and its internals.
Huawei used the new Kirin 9010 SoC to fuel this phone, and you also get to see the vapor chamber cooling mechanism that is used in the device. It’s actually significantly thinner and lighter than your standard copper alloy VCs, which is interesting.
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra was announced in China a couple of days ago. Chances are that Huawei will launch its Pura 70 series globally too, but we still don’t know when will that happen.
