If you’re a person who values sustainable and reparable phones, then you should be familiar with the brand Fairphone. Fairphone is a smartphone brand based in the Netherlands that specializes in making modular phones. However, that doesn’t mean that the company can’t branch out. Fairphone just launched its new Fairbuds.
This launch comes shortly after the news that Fairphone is branching out to more markets. One of the main issues that people have with Fairphone is the fact that its phones are only available in limited markets.
Also, the company announced that it plans to bring a more affordable phone to the market. Fairphone handsets are nice phones, but they are rather pricey for the specs you are given. You’re basically getting a mid-range phone for a flagship phone price. However, that will change soon.
Fairphone’s officially launched the Fairbuds
So, what’s so “fair” about the Fairbuds? Well, loyal to Fairphone’s philosophy, the Fairbuds offer the ability to replace the battery of the charging case. If you think that’s impressive, each earbud actually has a replaceable battery as well. There are other parts that you can replace that may wear down over time. So, rather than getting an entirely new set of earbuds, you can simply replace the parts that need to be changed out.
Along with being reparable, these earbuds come with a nice set of specs. For starters, you should be able to get about 26 hours of listening time with the buds and charging case included. Without the charging case, your buds will last about 5 hours on a charge. If the charging case runs out, a quick 10-minute charge will give you about an hour and a half of listening time. Overall, it takes 2 hours to charge the charging case.
Other specs include IP54 water and dust resistance. This means that you won’t have to worry about your earbuds getting damaged from your sweat or light sprinkles of water. However, just don’t expect to go swimming with them. Also, the Fairbuds come with ANC (active noise cancellation).
If you are curious about picking up a set of fair buds, they will only run you $149. That’s definitely a premium earbuds price, but it’s worth it for a pair of earbuds you know you’ll be able to keep for years to come.
