According to a report issued by Global News and Winnipeg Free Press, a UPS worker in Canada stole and resold $1.3 million worth of Apple products. His name is Orville Beltrano, and he stole approximately 866 devices from the warehouse where he worked since 2013, based on the reports.

A UPS worker in Canada stole well over $1.3 million worth of Apple products

The reports stated that the worth of the equipment he stole is over $1.3 million, actually. He resold that equipment in order to make a profit. Mr. Beltrano was positioned as a supervisor and was selling products on Kijiji.

It was revealed that Beltrano deposited over $232,000 in his bank accounts between September 2023 and January 2024. UPS fired him on January 22, and he was arrested that very same day.

Investigators were able to find $9,000 in cash while searching his home and vehicle. They also found a Mac laptop and jewelry valued at over $9,000. Beltrano did admit to his crimes.

He actually said that he used the money to purchase a home which is worth $680,000. He also used that money to pay off a $60,000 Audi hatchback which was purchased in 2021.

Multiple charges were issued

Beltrano has been charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of the proceeds of crime by the police.

How did they catch him? Well, UPS realized something was wrong as many Apple devices were missing from the warehouse in Winnipeg. With that in mind, the company decided to launch an investigation in December last year.

UPS installed security cameras and was able to catch Beltrano in the middle of the act. He was caught stealing products from pallets. Those products were supposed to be shipped to Ontario.

Beltrano was not exactly trying to be subtle about it either. He stole 120 iPhones in a single shift in January 2024, it is reported. His house, cash, bank accounts, and car will be confiscated, it seems.
