From what we can tell, we’re just under a month away from White Collar returning to our screens, but only in the United States. Here’s what you need to know about the return of the classic USA Network show.
Airing between 2009 and 2014, the police procedural series starred Matt Bomer as a grifter who is recruited into the FBI to take down fellow con artists and thieves.
Now, all six seasons will be coming to Netflix (but only in the US) beginning on April 1st, 2024.
Netflix used to stream the series, with all four seasons coming in 2014 and seasons 5 and 6, then added in 2015. The series then remained on Netflix for three years before its removal in 2018.
The news of the show returning to Netflix came in late 2023, with Deadline revealing that Disney had struck a new deal with Netflix to bring a slew of their older catalog titles (and some newer ones) to the streaming service throughout 2024 and 2025. It’s already seen a collection of 30 for 30 docs land on the service, plus This is Us, The Wonder Years, and most recently, The Resident.
Still set to arrive throughout the rest of this year includes Archer, Lost, and Prison Break.
The news of White Collar coming comes as Netflix heavily pushes back into licensing content from third parties. For the most part, rivals like Disney had turned off the licensing taps to Netflix in favor of servicing their own streaming services, keeping older titles exclusively. With Wall Street turning on these companies and most of these shows mainly going unwatched, that philosophy has now changed, with more rivals now open to giving their content to Netflix. It comes when Netflix seeks increased watch time from subscribers, particularly on the advertising tier that will juice revenues.
White Collar joins a collection of USA Network titles on the streamer in the US, which currently includes Suits, which dominated the Nielsen charts throughout 2023. Other recent additions include Royal Pains and Monk.
The addition to Netflix is not expected to impact the show’s current availability on Freevee or Hulu (the Disney-owned service).
When will White Collar leave Netflix again?
All of the Disney shows that have come to Netflix will be available for a period of 18 months. In White Collar’s case, the show will expire from Netflix US on October 1st, 2025.
