WhatsApp has been a roll lately. In the latest update for Android users, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that lets users search for messages by date within individual and group chats. You should know, that this feature is already accessible on other WhatsApp versions such as iOS, Mac, and WhatsApp Web.
This announcement comes from none other than Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He teased this feature in a video searching for an old chat about Karaoke on his WhatsApp channel.
WhatsApp will help you dig into old conversations with ease
This feature truly stands out as an excellent addition, especially for those who have yet to have the opportunity to explore it on the platforms where it’s already available. Its functionality is similar to a feature available on Telegram, enabling users to delve into chats from a specific date.
It’s best recommended for anyone curious about past conversations but may not recall specific keywords, or wishes to revisit old chats for various reasons. In most cases, the feature should be available on your Android phone. However, if you don’t see the feature, you’ll want to update the app to the latest version and start searching for messages by date.
How to search for messages by date on WhatsApp?
To use this feature, open the chat you want to explore. Next, tap the search icon. In the search bar’s top right corner, find and select the calendar icon. This action brings up a calendar view where you can pick the date you want. Once you’ve chosen the date, tap Jump to date. Now, messages from that particular day will show up, making it easy for you to browse through past conversations smoothly and quickly.
Moreover, several updates are in the pipeline. As such, WhatsApp is reportedly working on Favorites which will let users add three filters at the top of users chat lists.
