Battlefield has been one of the most popular and prettiest looking FPS game franchises for a while. While this is true, according to GameSpot it looks like the Battlefield franchise is going to be going through some major changes in the near future. Some of the changes are already taking effect.

There will be a lot of changes in terms of personnel

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes with teams and studios working on the Battlefield games. Firstly, the franchisee will be getting a new boss in the form of Vince Zampella. While heading the Battlefield franchise, he’ll still be performing managerial work at Respawn.

DICE’s GM, Oskar Gabrielson, has left the company. This is a Swedish game company that’s responsible for games like Battlefield IV, Battlefield V, Battlefield 1, etc. He’s leaving EA altogether.

Taking Gabrielson’s place is Rebecka Coutaz, the former studio director at Ubisoft Annecy. While this is true, Gabrielson is staying on board until the end of the year to assist during this transition.

Marcus Lehto, who’s a designer for the Halo franchise, will be heading up a new studio in Seattle. This studio will collaborate with Ripple Effect and DICE to introduce some solid story and character development. However, we don’t know what this studio’s name is at the moment.

There will be a ‘new experience’ for Battlefield 2042

Ripple Effect is not only working on the story for the Battlefield games, it’s also working on what it’s calling a “new experience” for Battlefield 2042. The LA-based studio told GameSpot that this is what the studio is working on, but the representative was unable to comment on what it is. Battlefield 2042 didn’t have a graceful launch, so the game could use all the fixes it can get.

So, what happened with Battlefield 2042?

This is the newest game to come from the franchise and, as the name suggests, it takes place in the not-so-distant future. EA undoubtedly has high hopes for this game, but it launched to some sour reviews.

When the game launched, people remarked on its lack of relevant features. Paying top dollar for a triple-A game that’s barebones would cause anyone to be upset. Not only that but the game was lacking in other departments like a scoring system, game modes, custom items, etc.

There were a lot of glitches that people had to deal with. Some of the glitches include poor (or no) collisions with buildings and vehicles, people flying around the map, and objects just falling through the floor. Hopefully, these changes coming to the Battlefield franchise will help.
