Fans find all kinds of creative ways to celebrate their favorite games or games they’re interested in, and this new LEGO remake of the GTA VI trailer is a testament to fan appreciation of a beloved title.
It’s truly a piece of art. And it shows the likely immense excitement for the upcoming game. Created by World of Shrimpy on YouTube, the trailer uses LEGOs for the entirety of the video and recreates every frame. This is certainly not the first remake of Rockstar’s trailer that’s come out since the official one was released. And it probably won’t be the last.
It is the most unique one so far though. Another creator that we reported on last week remade the trailer with in-game footage from GTA V. To an astounding degree of accuracy. The LEGO trailer is every bit as much of a faithful recreation. But because it’s LEGOs, it puts a sort of hilarious spin on things.
The LEGO GTA VI trailer uses stop-motion animation
It’s hard to look at anything made with LEGOs and resist laughing. And if you’ve played any of the LEGO games or seen the LEGO movies, you’ll understand. You get a little bit of that here with the GTA VI trailer remake. World of Shrimpy uses stop-motion video at 30 frames per second to make the animation. This gives the trailer a little bit more of a goofy vibe than normal. It also provides an eye-opening view of how long the trailer probably took to make.
World of Shrimpy says the entire project took about two weeks to make. And that they’ve been working on it since the original trailer dropped. Stop-motion video isn’t a quick process. Especially for a trailer that’s almost a minute and a half long. So two weeks sounds about right.
World of Shrimpy says they took 3,086 photos to comprise the whole trailer. So that should put things in perspective in terms of time. Then after the photos were taken, they had to be stitched together to make the actual animation. In addition to the LEGO remake trailer, World of Shrimpy has also done a side-by-side comparison with the actual trailer. You can view both below.
