Netflix and Spotify are two of the most popular streaming platforms out there, only they stream different types of media. Spotify just posted a blog post where it announced a new partnership with Netflix. This partnership will bring the soundtracks from Netflix content straight to Spotify.

This Netflix Spotify partnership brings the Netflix Hub

The record-breaking hit show Squid Game seems to be the cause of this partnership. Spotify said in the announcement that after Squid Game launched, there were over 22,500 specifically themed playlists made inspired by the show. Because of this, Spotify and Netflix struck a deal that brings music from Netflix over to Spotify.

They created what’s called the Netflix Hub. This is a new section on the Spotify app where you can find Netflix music. This music is either in the form of playlists or even the original soundtracks. You can look for the tab or simply search “Netflix” in the Spotify app.

Under that tab, you’ll be able to see the official music from Netflix original programming. You’ll also be able to get music from other content. You’ll have access to playlists inspired by La Casa De Papel, Brigerton, and On My Block.

If you want original soundtracks, you’ll be able to listen to music from Bruised, Cowboy BeBop, and Squid Game. There will be more movies and shows added to this list.

This partnership also includes podcasts

Netflix and Spotify are not stopping at music for this partnership. Along with the playlists and soundtracks, those who use the Netflix Hub will also see podcasts centered around Netflix shows. These podcasts include Okay, Now Listen, Netflix Is A Daily Joke, 10/10 (Would Recommend), and The Crown: The Official Podcast.

Right now, there’s even a behind-the-scenes look at the hit film The Harder They Fall. It will dive into how the movie’s score came together. This will all be included in the Netflix Hub, and you’ll be able to access it even if you’re a free member.

This was a smart move

Spotify was smart to do this. There are a lot of hit soundtracks that come from Netflix shows and movies. Being the destination to listen to that one eerie song from Squid Game and other popular soundtracks should bring in some more listeners.

This partnership between Spotify and Netflix might spark other partnerships between streaming platforms. There are hit shows from the likes of Hulu and Prime Video that people would like to hear.

If you’re curious, the Netflix Hub is currently available for people in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and India.
