We’re pretty much used to OEMs making phones with confusing names (Sony being of the worst culprits). Now, OnePlus is joining that group of companies. According to a tweet by Mukul Sharma, the company seems to be rebranding one of its phones for a different market.

OnePlus is rebranding its OnePlus 9RT for the Indian market

OnePlus’s flagship phones have a pretty simple naming scheme. There’s a main variant, a pro variant, and a T variant. The Nord line of phones, on the other hand, can be a little bit confusing.

Earlier this year, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 9R to the Indian market. It then released the OnePlus 9RT to the Chinese market. If that’s not confusing enough, the company will be launching the OnePlus 9RT in India, only, this phone will be called the OnePlus RT.

This will surely make things a bit difficult for people who are looking to buy OnePlus phones. The OnePlus 9RT and the OnePlus RT will have identical specs and designs, so the only difference will be in the name.

What is the OnePlus RT?

The OnePlus R is a mid-range phone through and through, however, the OnePlus RT is a more premium handset. This phone brings some top-of-the-line specs to the market.

This phone has a 6.2-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display that can run at 120Hz and is compatible with HDR10+. There’s also an under-display fingerprint scanner with his phone.

It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC with the Adreno 660 GPU. This is backed up by up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

As for the camera package, this phone has a triple-camera setup. The main camera is a 50-megapixel camera,  and it’s accompanied by a 16-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The main camera is good for recording 4K video at up to 60 fps. Keeping the lights on is a respectable 4,500 mAh hours battery.

The OnePlus RT launches with color OS 11X running on Android 11 out of the box. In China, this phone costs around the equivalent of $512 USD, which is a spectacular price for such a powerful device. When the phone eventually launches in India, we can expect it to be around that price range.

In Other OnePlus News: A OnePlus 10 aluminum dummy was leaked

As expected, The OnePlus RT will not be making it to the states. However, we have been getting some leaks of the next OnePlus phone that will be coming to the states.

There was a new aluminum dummy of the OnePlus 10 that was just late. It shows us where OnePlus wants to go with the design for its next flagship phone. We can expect the camera bump to slightly resemble the one found on the current Galaxy S flagships.
