We’ve come across a handful of leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. A new revelation by a well-known industry tipster now suggests that the tablet could feature a camera notch on the screen housing two cameras.

Ice Universe claims with “100% certainty” that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will feature a camera notch, though it reportedly won’t be a big one. Samsung could have some justification for the notch since the tablet is expected to be sporting dual-cameras. At least one of them could be an ultra-wide-angle camera with the ability to record 4K videos at 60fps.

We’ve previously learned that Samsung could be developing an ultrathin bezel technology for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra known as BRS or Border Reduction Structure. The company will supposedly use this tech only for some portions of the display.

Separately, a report this week went on to say that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra would only be available in a single color. However, Samsung may offer the standard Galaxy Tab S8 and the Galaxy Tab S8+ in colors like silver, gray, and rose gold. Rumors say this is due to the limited availability of the Ultra variant in global markets.

The Galaxy Tab S8 was delayed due to the global semiconductor shortage

Samsung is also dealing with production yield-related problems for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra display. This may have to do with the aforementioned ultrathin bezel technology, so it’s not looking very promising for Samsung’s much-awaited tablet refresh.

Samsung had to skip the release of the Galaxy Tab S8 series this year due to the global chip shortage. The company could now unveil the lineup sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

Reports suggest that the trio of tablets will be available in 11-inch, 12.4-inch, and 14.6-inch display variants. Unsurprisingly, the Tab S8, Tab S8+, and the Tab S8 Ultra will feature the powerful Snapdragon 898 chipset. This chipset could likely go under the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 moniker when it breaks cover later this month.

Samsung is unveiling the Galaxy S21 FE in January and the Galaxy S22 series in early February. So it’s likely that the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup could launch during or between these launch events. However, Samsung may ultimately decide to launch the tablets at MWC 2022 in late February.
