Amazon-owned home security and smart home company Ring is adding some holiday-themed Quick Replies to its doorbells in time for the upcoming holiday season. All Ring doorbells will be able to greet your guests with messages like “Happy Holidays!” or tell them to wait for some time if you can’t answer the door immediately because you are busy wrapping presents for children. As The Verge notes, you have to usually settle for something like “We can’t answer the door right now, but if you’d like to leave a message, you can do it now.”

You can also use the Ring doorbell’s automatic answering feature to thank delivery workers or cheer them with some nice messages when they bring gifts to your door during this holiday season. And as for the doorbell’s chime tones, you have plenty of holiday music and carols like “Jingle Bells”, “Oh Hanukkah”, and “Deck the Halls” to choose from.

Ring updates its doorbells with more holiday-themed Quick Replies and chimes

Ring offered such holiday-themed tones and Quick Replies during previous holiday seasons as well. It added a few spooky ones for Halloween last month. The company might soon have a strong collection of curated tones and Quick Replies for various occasions and celebrations. We will let you know if it releases more of them in the future, like for New Year’s day or the Fourth of July.

Quick Replies on Ring Doorbells is an optional feature. You can enable or disable it at any time in the Ring app. The Ring app also lets you select your message and set a response time between 2 to 20 seconds. You can set up each Ring doorbell with different messages, chime tones, and response times.

Note that while Quick Replies are available on most Ring Doorbells, subscribers of the Ring Protect plan also get some add-ons. Most notably, your doorbell will record your guests’ or other visitors’ responses if you’re a paying user. So if you greet someone or thank them for a service, you’ll be able to see what they replied anytime. Users who aren’t subscribed to the Ring Protect plan lose out on this ability. They can still see a live stream of the responses though.

Ring Protect Plan starts at $3 a month ($30 yearly) and goes up to $20 a month ($200 yearly). The highest-priced tier offers features like 24/7 professional monitoring for Ring Alarm, 24/7 Backup Internet, Alexa Guard Plus, and more.
