Candy Cane Lane Comes to Prime Video This Holiday Season
Director Reginald Hudlin has teased what to expect from Candy Cane Lane, with the filmmaker declaring that making a new (hopefully) Christmas classic has been a long-held dream of his.
“I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels.”
Not only will Hudlin now realize his dream thanks to Prime Video, the director has revealed that Candy Cane Lane will be unique among Christmas movie fare, and includes all manner of jump scares, feels. and even some kung-fu.
“I can say confidently you’ve never seen a holiday movie like this. We have jump scares, car chases and kung-fu fighting, plus all the holiday feels.”
Candy Cane Lane is not Amazon’s only attempt at adding a beloved Christmas movie to the roster. The studio will also release the action-adventure Christmas film, Red One, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Marvel star Chris Evans. Directed by Jake Kasdan, with a script written by Chris Morgan, and from an original story by Hiram Garcia, Red One does not yet have a release date, but has been called a “reimagining” of well-known holiday mythology.
