“Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?” These words will be deeply familiar to many. Released way back in 1997, the first Good Burger was spawned by a comedy sketch of the same name on the Nickelodeon series All That, with the movie following Kenan Thompson as Dexter Reed, a 16-year-old high school student who, after wrecking his teacher’s car, is forced to get a summer job at a fast-food restaurant to pay for the damages. There, he meets Ed, played by Kel Mitchell, a lovable, innocent, dim-wit who often causes all manner of chaos. But you forgive him, because his heart is in the right place.

The first Good Burger was not well-received by critics, but the movie has since garnered a passionate following. A following that has been calling for a sequel for the last couple of decades and change.

And thus, a return to Good Burger is here, with director Phil Traill promising lots of jokes, stunts, physical comedy, and fun. In other words, all you could want from a sequel.

“Look, there’s a lot of jokes! When you watch it, it looks like so much fun, but there’s a lot of jokes written by these guys. And then to execute the physical comedy, it’s a whole process! There’s so many stunts in the movie! There’s so much storyboarding and thinking about how we’re going to, say, cover this person with ketchup. You think it’s so easy, but then you break it down, and you’re like, “How are we going to do these different things?” There’s a lot of filmmaking and thought that goes into making something that is so silly and fun.”

Good Burger 2 is scheduled to be released on November 22, debuting on Paramount+.
