It’s been nearly a year since Google Hangouts was killed off in lieu of Chats, and the platform has been gaining some notable features. One feature is called Smart Replies. Well, Google Chat’s Smart Replies are making their way to more corners of the app.
In case you don’t know, Google Chats is the company’s online messaging service. It’s meant to be a competitor to platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. If you have a Google account, then you should be able to use the chatting platform. There’s an app version of the platform along with a web version. If you want to communicate with other people through their Google accounts, then you might want to check it out.
Google Chat’s Smart Replies are making it to Spaces and Groups
Just about all of Google’s products use some sort of AI to make them more useful. In the case of Google chat, the app has Smart Replies. If you get a message from someone, the app will use AI to give you a handful of suggested quick replies that you can send in a single tap.
Google Photos will analyze the messaging coming to you in order to craft the appropriate responses. So, if your hands are full or you otherwise can’t type out a full message, you can just tap on one of the smart replies.
Until now, this feature was exclusive to direct messages, but the company is expanding this capability to more corners of the platform. In a new blog post from the company, Google announced that Spaces and Groups in Google Chat are getting Smart replies. This is coming to the web version of these products.
Unlike most Google Workspace features, this one isn’t exclusive to a certain selection of payment tiers. The feature is making it to all Google Workspace customers and people with Google accounts. It’s available now. If you don’t see it right away, then you might want to wait a day or two.
