The Google Pixel 8 series got announced today, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Having said that, we’re here to take a closer look at the specifications of the smaller Android flagship, the Google Pixel 8.

Here’s a closer look at the Google Pixel 8 specifications

The difference in size between the smaller and larger models is more pronounced this year, which is probably a good thing. The Pixel 8 features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) OLED display. Google refers to this panel as ‘Actua display’. Unlike the panel on the ‘Pro’ model, this is an LTPS display. Its refresh rate sits between 60 and 120Hz.

This panel is flat, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus. The max brightness is 2,000 nits, and HDR support is included. The display aspect ratio, for those of you who are wondering, is 20:9.

The Google Tensor G3 SoC fuels the Pixel 8, while Google included 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage, depending on the model you choose. Storage expansion is not an option. Do note that the Titan M2 security coprocessor is here as well.

It has a larger battery than its predecessor, despite the fact it has a smaller display

A 4,575mAh battery sits inside the Google Pixel 8. The phone supports fast charging up to around 20W, we cannot be sure. Google does sell a 30W charger, but you won’t be able to reach its full potential. The company says you can get up to 50% of charge in 30 minutes. Getting from 50 to 100% will take considerably longer, though. Wireless charging is also supported, up to around 20W as well, most likely. Details were not shared in official materials.

The Google Pixel 8 has two cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.68 aperture, 1.2um pixel size, 82-degree FoV, 1/1.31” sensor size, Super Res Zoom up to 8x) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 1.25um pixel size, 125.8-degree FoV). LDAF is included, as are spectral and flicker sensors. On the front, you’ll find a 10.5-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture, 1.22um pixel size, 95-degree FoV, fixed focus).

eSIM support is here, and you’ll be getting 7 years of software support

The phone does include an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also supports facial scanning thanks to its front-facing camera. Stereo speakers are a part of the package, as is dual SIM support (nano SIM + eSIM). That Type-C port at the bottom is of the 3.2 variety.

5G support is, of course, here, and the phone supports Wi-Fi 7 as well. It comes with Android 14 out of the box, with 7 years of security updates. It is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

The Google Pixel 8 measures 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm, and weighs 187 grams. It comes in Hazel, Obsidian, and Rose color options.
