Coming courtesy of Universal Pictures and Apple TV+, Argylle finds Cavill leading the way as a super-spy in this razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller from the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass). Check out the first trailer for Argylle below:
Alongside the first trailer, a detailed plot synopsis for Argylle has also now been released:
“Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.”
Directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn and adapted by Jason Fuchs, Henry Cavill is joined in Argylle by Barbie star and music sensation Dua Lipa, who will portray the mysterious character, Lagrange. You can also check out the first poster for Argylle right here:
The spy movie has amassed an A-list cast alongside Cavill, including the likes of Sam Rockwell (Moon), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Dominion), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), John Cena (F9, Peacemaker), Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), and Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2).
No doubt fans of Henry Cavill cannot wait to see the Superman actor lead this possible franchise starter for Apple TV+, which is due to be released next year.
Argylle Is Not the Only Spy Film on Henry Cavill’s Agenda
Argylle is not the only spy movie on Henry Cavill’s agenda, with the Mission: Impossible – Fallout star also due to lead The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare for director Guy Ritchie. The project will be based on the 2014 book Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII by Damien Lewis.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, who has co-written the script alongside Arash Amel, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be inspired by true events and details the World War II strategies conceived by United Kingdom Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond creator and author Ian Fleming. “The clandestine squad’s unconventional and entirely ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques against the Nazis helped change the course of the war and in part gave birth to the modern Black Ops unit,” the synopsis for the action spy flick states.
And, much like Argylle, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has also amassed a stellar supporting cast, including Eiza González (Ambulance), Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Henry Golding (Snake Eyes), Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Woman King), Cary Elwes (Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), Babs Olusanmokun (Dune, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds, Atomic Blonde), and Henrique Zaga (Beyond The Universe).
Argylle is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 2, 2024, by Universal Pictures and will also land on the streaming release on Apple TV+.
