The Samsung Galaxy S22 series phone will be more expensive than their predecessors, it seems. This is, at least, what a well-known tipster is saying. The information comes from “TheGalox”.
The Galaxy S22 series tipped to be more expensive across the board
He is estimating a $50 increase for the Galaxy S22, and S22+, and around a $100 price bump for the “Ultra”. As a reminder, the price tags for the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra were $799, $999, and $1,199 at launch. We’re talking about base models, of course.
So, with his information in mind, the Galaxy S22 could cost $849, while its larger sibling could set you back $1,049. The “Ultra” model could end up costing $1,299, if we count in the $100 price bump.
One thing to note, is that both the Plus and Ultra models are coming with 256GB of storage. That is, at least, what the source is saying. Their predecessors were offered with 128GB of storage, so that would explain the price bump, to a degree.
Truth be said, we expected the “Ultra” model to be more expensive. It will come with the S Pen dock this time around, and the S Pen itself. So, a price bump compared to its predecessor is expected, especially if you count in the storage difference as well.
This may not be the best idea considering the competition
The chip shortage could have played a role in all this as well, but we’re only guessing. Regardless, this may not be the best solution for Samsung. Considering that the Pixel 6 and iPhone 13 Mini are around, for killer prices for what they offer, these prices could prove to be troublesome for Samsung.
It remains to be seen how will consumers react if this info ends up being accurate. We’re still far away from the launch of the Galaxy S22 series. All three phones are expected to drop in early February, so we’ll see plenty more rumors and leaks regarding pricing.
