Godzilla Will Continue to Play a Big Role in the MonsterVerse
Alongside the return of the legendary kaiju in Godzilla Minus One, the iconic beasty will continue to play a major role in Legendary Pictures’s MonsterVerse. Godzilla is all set to return alongside fellow monster icon King Kong in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which is now due to crash into theaters in 2024.
“This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own,” reads the official Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire synopsis. “The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
The fifth installment in the MonsterVerse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees director Adam Wingard reunite with The Guest star Dan Stevens, who will take over as the main protagonist. The supporting cast includes Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, Kaylee Hottle as Jia, with Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (The Batman), and Rachel House (The Portable Door) set to join the franchise.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is expected to be released later this year on Apple TV+.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire is now scheduled to be released on April 12, 2024.
