7 Best New Shows on Netflix in June 2024

Best New Series On Netflix In June 2024

Picture: CBC

With June 2024 just around the corner, we want to look at some of the most anticipated and best new series on the way! We’ve picked out four Netflix Original titles that should be on your radar for the month, plus three licensed titles coming specifically to Netflix in the United States.

For the full list of what’s coming up on Netflix in the United States in June 2024 (or the UK), keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix.

Want to see our movie picks for June 2024? You can find all those here, and there are some bangers in there, whether that be the new Netflix Original animated film Ultraman: Rising or, for the US on the licensed side, the overlooked Steve Carrell biopic Welcome to Marwen.

Bridgerton (Season 3 – Part 2)

Coming to Netflix: June 13th

Netflix’s series slate feels a lot lighter in June than normal, and that’s almost certainly because of the cleared space around Bridgerton’s return following the season 3 debut in May 2024.

While we’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect from the second part, we’re still waiting on first-look pictures and a trailer. Hopefully, we won’t be waiting long.

Sweet Tooth (Season 3)

Coming to Netflix: June 6th

Sweet Tooth has never been a massive success for Netflix (as evidenced by the fact that the final season trailer has only just over 250k views), so it’s a relief that the show is not only coming back but also getting a proper finale and goodbye with the forthcoming final season.

The final season sees Gus, Jepperd, Becky, and Wendy continue their journey to Alaska to find Gus’s mother, Birdie, who is investigating the origins of the deadly Sick, having defeated General Abbot by the close of season 2. Their journey will continue to have issues with a new threat emerging.

Supacell (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: June 27th

Netflix UK has had a string of hits so far in 2024, whether that’s the excellent Guy Ritchie series The Gentlemen or when Netflix kickstarted the year with the new Harlan Coben series Fool Me Once. We hope to continue that trend with a new superhero series, Supacell, which we’ve still not had a good look at.

Created by Rapman, the new series stars Michael Salami, Eddie Marson, and Adelayo Adedayo. It follows a group from South London who all develop superpowers and must find out why. It’s akin to the Channel 4 series Misfits, and we have high hopes.

The Whirlwind (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: June 28th

Rounding out our picks for June, we’ve got a new political thriller K-drama series coming up, which hopefully will live up to the high bar that Queenmaker set for Netflix last year.

Headlined by Sul Kyung-guy and Kim Hee-ae, the new limited series follows the prickly relationship between the deputy prime minister of economy going toe-to-toe with the prime minister.

Best Licensed Shows Coming to Netflix US in June 2024

Heartland (Season 16)

Coming to Netflix: June 1st

Wherever you live in the world, watching Heartland has caveats. If you live internationally, you get new seasons quite quickly, but with the tradeoff, most early seasons are nowhere to be found. If you’re in the US, you have the complete collection, but you’ve got the painstaking wait for newer seasons.

This brings us to season 16, which first aired all the way back in late 2022 on CBC in Canada. The new season of the long-running and popular family drama set on a remote ranch features 15 episodes in all kicks off with the following plot threads:

“Amy helps Lyndy practice liberty training with Harley, and after Lyndy successfully halts a loose horse using Amy’s technique, a video of the event goes viral, impacting Amy’s business and causing jealousy among Lyndy’s classmates, while various personal and professional challenges arise for the characters, including a plumbing issue affecting Tim and Jessica, Rick’s decision to adopt a baby, and Amy being asked to work with Moondance despite Paula Westfield’s objections.”

Don’t binge the new season too quickly, though; you’ll have to wait until 2025 for season 17.

Dexter (Seasons 1-8)

Coming to Netflix: June 19th

Following the re-addition of every season of Showtime’s flagship series starring Michael C. Hall to Netflix in international territories earlier this year, we were pleased to report that the US was next in line to get the show last month.

The show is a great binge (at least great for the first four seasons – it falls off quite hard from there on out), with Hall playing the role of a serial killer with a moral conscience and a code on who he’s allowed to kill.

How I Met Your Mother (Seasons 1-9)

Coming to Netflix: June 3rd

Sticking with long binges for our final pick of the article, we’ve got How I Met Your Mother, which was among the 14 shows announced to be coming to Netflix throughout 2024 from a new pact with Disney.

Created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the beloved sitcom (which spawned an ill-fated spin-off at Disney+) has a father recounting the journey he took with his friends, leading to the eventual meeting of the kid’s mother.

Running from 2005 through 2014, the show features over 200 episodes in total, so you’ve got a long binge ahead!
